Easy Knitted Bear Instructions

This is possibly one of the easiest instructions for knitting a teddy bear.

Materials Needed
    Any choice of yarn. I used Red Heart-black. As well as white for the mouth and eyes).
    4.25mm (size 6) knitting needles.
    1 button of your choice (for right eye).

Abbreviations
    K Knit
    st(s) Stitch(es)
    CO Cast On

Instructions

Feet
CO 8 sts
K 19 rows. Leave about a 5" tail. Bring the yarn tail through the end of the last stitch.
CO 8 sts on the empty needle.
K 20 rows. You should have one leg on each knitting needle.

Body
Knit needle with skein to other knitting needle. (16 sts)
K 44 rows
Bind off the first stitch of the next 6 rows. (10 sts)
Bind off last 10 stitches.
Knit the second side.

*Before sewing the two sides together form the stitched mouth, X eye, and sew the button on.

Arms
CO 12 sts
K 20 rows. Bind off.
Knit second arm.

Ears
(I did not add the ears to the 'bear' that I made).
CO 8 sts
K 2 rows.

To shape the head draw about 12" of yarn in and out, (about 10 rows down from the top of the head). Pull yarn tight to form the neck and tie securely, then make a bow in the front.
